Legislation and recent lawsuits have made colleges and universities increasingly concerned with accessibility issues. Continuing education programs strive to serve all learners, including those who may require special accommodations to achieve their learning objectives. Universal design principles help build courses that maximize learning by all students. In this presentation we will provide an overview of what universal design is and discuss the rationale for and practical application of universal design to web-enhanced and online courses. We will present strategies for developing accessible documents, presentations and course content. For more information about Universal Design, visit the universal design resources page.

Grade Center Basics: Overview and Tool Features

The Grade Center in Blackboard, much like a traditional paper grade book, helps instructors organize and manage student submissions and evaluate performance. But unlike the traditional counterpart, the Grade Center has a broad range of features and automated options to help with overall course management.

In this workshop, we will present a basic overview of features, and functionalities within the Grade Center. Beyond basic navigation of the Grade Center, we will explore automated grade calculations, student-submission tracking, monitoring student progress, creating categories and smart views.
