Definition

Blackboard Learn is a learning management system that comprises four modules: a learning system that provides online course delivery and management for institutions; a community and portal system for use in creating online campus communities; a content management system for centralized control over course content; and a system to record and analyze student assessment results.

Background


As a result of the Learning Platform Review outcome, UMassOnline is moving forward with utilizing Blackboard Learn for online learning. Blackboard Inc. has been a service provider supporting UMOL since it's purchasing of WebCT in 2007 and provides a variety of other services and systems to UMOL.

Utilization


Blackboard Learn is currently being implemented to replace Blackboard Vista.

  • UMass Lowell
  • UMass Worcester Medical School
  • Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • Westfield State University
